I recently stayed at The Embassy for five nights and had a mix of experiences. The hotel is conveniently located close to downtown, but the surrounding area, known as The Tenderloin, felt unsafe due to the presence of many homeless people. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, with ample towels and cozy beds. The service provided by the staff, especially Bill and Mary, was friendly and helpful. However, the dining area, more akin to a dark lounge bar, was not ideal for meals, despite the food being awesome. Overall, it was a stay with ups and downs.

The hotel is situated right off the bay bridge, providing easy access to the downtown area and shopping centers while also being within walking distance of Moscone convention center. Despite the convenient location, the presence of numerous homeless people and vagrants around the hotel made me feel unsafe and uncomfortable. The rooms were of a decent size, although quite old and stuffy with only a small window for ventilation. The service staff, unfortunately, was not very welcoming, with a touch of snobbishness and rudeness displayed during interactions, prompting me to organize my own taxi. The dining experience was basic, consisting of toast, fruit, juice, and coffee in a somewhat dark setting more suited for a late-night lounge bar. However, the hotel did offer friendly service and acceptable cleanliness in the rooms.

The hotel had a mix of pros and cons during my stay. The rooms were beautifully furnished in the older style, which I personally loved. However, they were very outdated, and at 7:30 in the morning, I was surprised to find that I had been given 2 double beds instead of the King bed we had paid for.

Rooms

The rooms had a lovely older style that I appreciated, but they were quite outdated. The mix-up with the bed size was a bit disappointing.

Location

The hotel is in a rough neighborhood, particularly in the Tenderloin area of San Francisco. Although it was close to the bus stop to the wharf and Civic BART, the area felt sketchy and unsafe, especially at night. It's one of the most destitute places I have ever seen in North America.
Dining

The dining experience took place in a dark setting, more suited for a late-night lounge bar. The breakfast offered was quite basic with toast, whole fruit, orange juice, coffee, and cereal. It could have been more hearty to start the day right.

The hotel's old cased classic Americana 1930's rooms featured big comfortable beds and flat-screen TVs, but they weren't ready when I checked in. They were adequate for our weekend trip to the city by the bay, yet they weren't clean enough for the price paid.

I found the hotel to be reasonably close to the BART station and in a safe area, making it convenient for traveling. The rooms were dated and dirty, although seemed mostly clean, but the linen was stained, and there was a musty smell when I checked in. The service was lacking as the staff was rude throughout, and not readily available at the desk. The location was good for reaching downtown SF, but the presence of many homeless people made me feel uneasy, especially at night. The dining options were adequate, but the setting was dark and more suitable for a bar atmosphere. Overall, the facilities were lacking in terms of basic room amenities.

The hotel felt like a blast from the past; the rooms were outdated and not as advertised online, but surprisingly had hot water. The bathroom was in dire need of renovation and cleanliness was an issue that seemed to have been neglected for decades. The location, although close to attractions, was in a questionable area with a lot of homeless individuals around, making it feel unsafe at times.

Rooms

The rooms were something straight out of the dark ages, not matching the online photos. Despite having hot water, the outdated decor and lack of cleanliness were major drawbacks.

My stay at The Embassy in San Francisco had its ups and downs. The location was the only thing I really liked, with Pier 39 and the Golden Gate nearby. However, the hotel is in a scummy neighborhood, with limited parking and a strong smell of smoke in the rooms. The service was mixed, with some helpful staff like Bill and Mary but overall reluctant assistance. The rooms, though in need of a paint job and fixing the water issues, were clean. The dining area felt more like a late-night bar than a comfortable restaurant.

The hotel is situated in a location that is not ideal due to being in a rough part of the city with homeless people around, although the on-site parking is convenient.
